(ooc: edited the title; this is so relevant though) Panes of light shining through the foliage above dappled the ground in intricate patterns of light and shadows, the occasional breeze shifting the leaves and breaking the forest's silence. Flowers ran rampant between the trees, though avoided the worn path flecked in light and shadow.
The unearthly sound accompanying a particularly peculiar individual might've gone unnoticed had the forest not been mostly devoid of sound-- well, that is to say, devoid of anything louder than the whistling of birds both near and distant. Even still, the floating creature followed the path, her avian-styled head lifted, legs somewhat bent, and tail shifting formlessly behind her. The stars strewn across her body shifted seemingly in relationship to her journey ever forward.
This particular forest was unfamiliar to Noh, though it seemed interesting enough. How she saw it all with her eyes closed was a secret well-kept, though she did almost run into a tree every now and again. Even still, the creature kept on, intrigued as to the inhabitants of this particular region.
Had Noh not fed upon a few squirrels an hour prior, she might've gone looking for a meal, but instead found herself pausing to 'examine' the brightly-colored foliage around her, a limb stretching out to caress one of the flowers that had spawned nearer to the path. Blatant curiosity encircled her actions, though they seemed of an entirely benign nature thus far.

Why the beast walked the Earth was a question that would probably never be answered. Though as it were, soundless footsteps wandered the forest despite the creature's size. The size of an average human whilst standing on all fours, Teratoma was a force to be reckoned with. Large ears flicked back and forth, tail dragging along the ground with the same eerie silence. It had been long since she had bothered to venture someplace else other than her usual hangouts and simply wandered aimlessly with no purpose. The only sign that she had moved through the area were the deep claw marks in the ground, dragging from her heavy tail and the occasional spot of burned ground.
The levihound walked with her head held high, dominate among all lesser beings. This place was now hers and hers alone-- no one would come between the mutt and her own decisions. Horned head swung from side to side as slitted, icy blue eyes scanned the area. A sharp hiss escaped the beast's jaws as it scowled. There was an odd presence here-- Tera could smell it in the air. It was.. otherworldly, not unlike someone of her own kind but definitely different.
Her curiosity perked, the beast picked up the pace, muscles working to push the large creature forward, claws and spines easily slicing through any irritating foliage. Why any creature would want to live in such a leafy place permanently was beyond her understanding. Her fur and spines got caught in all sorts of things, dirt in her toes, bugs flying around her ears. It was horrible, disgusting and degrading. A beast of her caliber should not lower herself to being in such places. Then again, there may be something to kill-- er, communicate with. And Teratoma was always up for a bit of a hunt, at any rate.
Jaws gnashed together once, twice, before bright green, forked tongue flicked out. Corrosive acid dripping out in thick globs, falling to the ground and sizzling, burning whatever it came into contact with. The scent was getting stronger, large nose prodding against the ground and branches as she went, tail beginning to wave back and forth in anticipation.
It had been a long time since she had encountered anything of much interest, but maybe her luck was changing.
Days have passed since the creature had crash-landed on the planet, the warm climate of the area having woken the newcomer from the broken shell in which it had been encased. Little memory remained of what had happened on its home planet, if anything, but such was disregarded for the time being. Survival was at the top of the list.
So far, the alien had been wandering through the forest in which it had landed, its writhing mane of featureless tentacles reaching out to test the occasional plant or tree it had come across. A few animals had been sighted, but fled upon approach. They were watched with some interest before the alien moved on, having little care to chase after them.
At some point in her travels, Noctia began to hear a low, strange sound. She had been here long enough to know that the forest itself was not making such a sound; since what she had usually been hearing was the wind rustling the leaves overhead and birdsong that echoed. Her wandering came to a momentary halt as she considered checking out the source of the sound. There was possibly some danger involved, but at least there would be a nice change.
The creature quicky made her way towards the sound on six legs, moving in near-silence through the forest.
Noh scarcely noted the first creature's approach, though came to the understanding of such with some level of alarm. Certainly, the sound of the trees and plants giving way indicated the individual's size and the deer-like animal retreated accordingly, hiding herself behind a tree like a common coward.
Such hardly registered to her as cowardice, of course, and instead manifested as a defensive position, should the larger animal be intending to charge through the area and continue onward. Not one possessing a sense of smell or understanding of how scent worked, she believed herself to be utterly undetectable- the sound accompanying her presence likewise not understood.
That another was coming from a different direction was not noted immediately, the alien's smaller stature not making enough of a racket to draw Noh's attention as did the first.
Regardless of such, the seconds draining away until she met the first stranger elicited a tentative query vocalized mentally, rather than physically. Such would be heard by either individual if their minds were open to such a minor intrusion, Who's there?
Provided the first didn't lunge out to attack, Noh would drift out of hiding like some sort of magician, levitating in that peculiar manner that spoke of other planets. My, you're a tall one! She'd continue, slim legs somewhat bent and tail undulating in its own formless manner behind her, eyes tightly shut, Are you named?
The second individual would have to reveal her presence to be addressed, of course, though their nearness by now would likely be more than apparent.

Teratoma had been anticipating something.. quite different. The formless looking creature took her by surprise, stopping in place to openly gawk. Herself being not an average creature of the Earth, she was not afraid of such, but never had she encountered anything quite like this. It was smaller than she was-- rather, there wasn't much that was bigger than her. She had intended to eat whatever she came into contact with, however she was now a little put-off by the alien's appearance.
When the stranger spoke into her mind, the levihound pulled her lips back into a snarl, head shaking as if that would get rid of the intrusion. Her mind was not a place anyone should be, or want to be. Filled with nonsensical thoughts and poor rationalisations, it would likely drive anyone insane who attempted to read her thoughts at all. Spines along her back quivered, tail tip flicking back and forth as Tera continued to weigh up the creature.
"Teratoma." Finally, she answered-- her voice merely a low hiss. Perhaps she would give this thing a chance to justify itself. This was her territory after all. She was about to inquire to such when the scent of another drifted past, large head turning in the direction it had come from. Her eyes narrowed, ears pulled back as her gaze didn't waiver, the first stranger forgotten for the moment. It hardly seemed a threat, but the beast's ever-present temper was rising with the knowledge that there were now two in her presence. What made them worthy of such?
She emitted a sharp bark in the direction of the alien, growling dangerously as it came into view. It's six legs triggering something in Teratoma's muddled brain that only signaled as a possible threat.
It hadn't taken long for the alien to reach her destination, letting the eerie noise be her guide. It gradually grew louder as she neared, slowing down from a run to a careful walk. For a moment she paused again when she heard a voice within her mind. Not of her own thoughts, but another's voice. Unsure how to respond or deal with such, she pressed forward, weaving around the last few trees in between her and her destination.
When Noctia caught sight of the two other creatures, she halted and lowered her head, eying them warily. There was a smaller, deerlike animal with a flowing tail. The other beast was somewhat bigger than she was and looked quite menacing, at odds with the former. The larger creature was looking right at her the moment she'd arrived. Noctia flinched minutely as it barked at her and decided to remain still. She wasn't sure what she should say to them, or if she even spoke the same language at them. The voice within her mind was understandable, but perhaps only for that reason.
Regardless, Noctia decided she would try to commune with them. "Hello?"
The gawking somewhat put-off the cervidae-styled animal. Of Teratoma's thoughts and other such things, she'd no inclination of. Her intrusion was projected from herself, rather than forced upon the others in a manner that would enable her to know such things. Had she known, though, Noh might've fled for fear of the other.
Teratoma's name was filed away for future usage and the extraterrestrial briefly began formulating another question in her mind, wary of allowing the other to tire of her presence for obvious reasons. As the other alien emerged, Noh levitated backwards, demeanor no less surprised as before, but certainly not one of comfort- what was that thing? It somewhat looked familiar, but Noh couldn't place it. If she'd seen one of its make before, it had been a long time ago.
At the Second's question, Noh responded cheerfully, Hello!
That's how friends get made, right? By being friendly? She couldn't be sure. Regardless, the creature introduced herself to both, hopefully preventing Teratoma from eating them with further distraction, I'm Noh! It's nice to meet you.

Honestly, Teratoma was entirely put-off by the appearance of both of them. None looked appetising enough to even consider eating-- not even for fun. Perhaps they could provide some amusement in another way. She wasn't entirely uncivil, after all. The beast heaved a sigh before sitting herself down with a heavy thud. She didn't bother replying to the greeting, merely looking between them with her icy gaze as they communicated. Her spiny tail wrapped around her feet as he hunched over, a sharp hiss escaping her every now and again.
"Noh." She repeated the name, attempting to commit to memory although she was highly unlikely to remember. The most she'd be able to do is remember her as the strange star-deer-creature, and the other as 'Six Legs'. Names was not one of Teratoma's fortes. "What are you? Both of you. Hideous creatures." Her speech ended with a low snarl, one of her many habits that many would come to ignore as hostile.
Her attention was portioned off between the two, finding it difficult to concentrate on both of them simultaneously. "My name is Teratoma." She repeated for the benefit of the newcomer, head rising above them both to make her intentions clear. She was the bigger creature, which according to her automatically made her the boss.
Curious and wary eyes would linger a moment longer on the behemoth before they moved to the deer-like animal as it responded cheerfully after its surprised retreat. It was the one that talked with its mind, she was sure of it now.
"I am Noctia." The alien replied simply and shifted her attention quickly onto the larger beast as it settled itself onto the ground rather noisily, having been wary of attack from such a vicious looking creature. A few tendrils of Noctia's mane seemed to reach out to the air before withdrawing; they were the alien's way of feeling and smelling things, and therefore was catching the others' scents. Nothing more was said while she observed the other two, but flinched and eyed the brutish one as she spoke and snarled; she who soon gave her name to be Teratoma.
"Wyrekyat, my kin are called." Noctia responded, hoping she sounded calm in her answer; although she was a little nervous of the larger one. It was a species in which she'd never seen before, knew nothing about, and knowing nothing was dangerous. The alien decided after a few minutes to lower her plated body to the ground, but remained ready to leap up if she was ever attacked.
Her eyes flitted between the two before she cautiously asked. "What is this planet called?"
Noh held little understanding of dominance, but made no attempt to disturb the enormous creature. The query was taken into account, however, I am also a Noh. I do not know what I am other than simply 'Noh,' either in name or kind.
At Notica's response, Noh shifted, Wyrekyats are familiar, but I've never met one up close. Are you always so purple? She didn't answer about the planet's name. Such held little interest for her, really. If Notica had asked her to name the stars, she would, but the planets and their inhabiting species were not allotted such knowledge.
Curious and feeling that of all times, now would be the best to get to know either, she continued on, What do you both eat, anyway? She figured that she already knew the answer, but the question remained. If anything, she wanted to come away with two friends-- or at least neutral parties --from this exchange. Anything was better than an enemy, at least.

Teratoma had heard of neither species before, especially one that named itself after.. well, itself. Her gaze lingered on the six-legged creature as it lowered itself to the ground, eying the tendrils curiously. The voice that seemed to talk straight into her mind still caused the beast to growl and snort in recoil, the sensation both unfamiliar and unwanted.
Loosing concentration for the small moment that Noh turned to address Noctia, the levihound yawned, forked tongue stretching out to an unnatural length and smearing the ground with the foul acid before disappearing into her mouth again. Her ears perked at the question, back arching slightly as she sat up straight, head only tilted down slightly to address the smaller creatures.
"Whatever I can. Creatures, mostly." A carnivore, in short. She didn't bother mentioning her own species, since no one asked. Her current appearance wasn't all that strange as to draw attention to the fact she had mutations from other animals, especially to those who were not exactly of this planet to begin with.
As she looked over the two one more time, Teratoma decided it would be very unwise to ingest any DNA from either of them. Another pair of legs or tendrils would be extremely painful to grow, and the smaller one-- Noh-- didn't seem like she had much to offer, anyway.
Noctia was disappointed when neither answered, either because they didn't know or didn't care to. It was alright, she supposed. She'd never been on another planet before and the name would never help her survive on it, nor would she suddenly gain knowledge about the planet by just knowing its name. Although such a thing would have come in rather useful if it were possible.
Dual eyes would focus upon the starry one as she asked a question. A soft coughing sound escaped the six-legged beast, something that could be close to amusement or laughter. "Not always. My kin can change their colors, according to their surroundings too if they wished, but I have taken a liking to these, so my answer is a yes. But you have seen others like me? Have you seen any here?"
The wyrekyat fell silent and watched as Teratoma sat up and answered Noh's second question, waiting to see if there would be anything else said after such before she spoke. "Also other creatures, but plants and fruits too." Noctia spoke up again as she eyed the two. "What do you eat, Noh?"
Noh certainly noted Teratoma's words first. That the other had the body parts of creatures both known and not encouraged the assumption that there was more to her species than she was letting on about right off the back. Regardless, Noh's attention flitted to the multi-legged animal after a few moments of lingering silence.
Yes, She answered calmly, But not here, no. I have not been around for very long. Time was allotted for Notica to answer before Noh reacted cheerfully, Whatever and whoever I want-- within reason.
Thereafter she adjusted her position accordingly, facing away as her eyes opened, their pitiless depths colored crimson, the mouth upon her chest stretching wide as it opened, sucking air into it as her neck and head bent backwards to enable the attachment to stretch wide. In lieu of some sort of horrifying monster, the cheerful creature showed them how she ate, then closed her mouth and eyes and resumed her prior demeanor, Just like that!

Teratoma regarded the smallest creature Noh with disdain, skeptical whether her answer was truthful or not. She was.. naive, it seemed. Or rather, just cheerfully happy without any reason-- which to Tera was something definitely unusual. She listened to the exchange between the two strangers, nothing to herself that she had not seen anything like either of them before. The concept of other worlds was lost on the beast, she had traveled much on the planet, but had no knowledge that there were others.
It was only when Noh decided to demonstrate exactly how she ate that Teratoma's interest was perked. A creature that she had previously held as hardly a threat to anything at all was now growing more dangerous in her mind. The 'mouth' had her pinning her ears back, lips pulling back to reveal her teeth to show her distaste. Although Noh was only acting with innocent intentions, Tera couldn't help but to interpret the display as something both threatening and an attempt to ascertain dominance.
The levihound gnashed her teeth together a couple times, her fangs producing the thick acid that then coated her tongue and dripped from her mouth. However, she stayed in her sitting position, slightly hunched and claws digging into the dirt beneath her. The spines on her back were raised, quivering slightly because of the previous display. She did not calm even when Noh returned to normal, hissing between her clenched teeth.
"You think yourself better than me?" She practically barked the question, her hostility rising but she was wary and unwilling to consume either creature for fear of the consequent side effects that it may produce. It was better to just make herself look as large and threatening as possible to uphold her position as the dominant creature.
Those dual eyes had been locked onto Noh ever since she'd questioned her, awaiting what answers she would receive. On the matter of whether others of her species had landed here, the answer had been no. Noctia said nothing, but gave the other space-faring creature a small nod; she was clearly crestfallen that she would be alone on this planet.
As for the eating bit, the six-legged beast's attention was piqued and she watched with some awe and alarm as Noh showed her exactly how she ate. She was up onto her 'feet' the moment the other creature's mouth had opened wide, without having thought about it. The alien shifted back a bit and watched as Noh returned to normal, but Tera's reaction to such made her immediately nervous. All four eyes watched the large hound warily as she responded with anger and wondered what was going to happen now.
